Dubai Tourism is pleased to announce the launch of our ‘Summer is Dubai’ campaign. Running from 7th June to 7th September, anyone travelling to Dubai and staying at one of the participating hotels (including Atlantis, The Palm, The Address Downtown Dubai, The Ritz Carlton Dubai and The Jumeirah Beach Hotel) can benefit from a fantastic deal to include:

- Free accommodation for 1-2 children below the age of 12 (minimum three night stay)

- 20% off on internet access

- 20% off spa and beauty salon treatments

- 20% off any other extras provided by participating hotels

- 20% off airport transfers

- Free meals for children under 12 at selected hotels

- Free access to selected attractions including the Wild Wadi and Aquaventure waterparks for children under 12

There’s plenty of shopping discounts to be snapped up too. As part of the ‘Dubai Summer Surprises’ promotion which takes place 14th June to 14th July, over 6000 stores will be offering fantastic savings. Each mall will have a special programme for kids during this period including puppet shows, Hello Kitty Karaoke and the Charlie and Lola show!

As part of the ‘Summer is Dubai’ promotion there will also be events across the emirate to mark Ramadan. Inspired by the spirit and values of the Holy Month, Government departments and official bodies will join forces to create activities across Dubai transforming the city into a cultural and traditional hub for all.

During Ramadan, which runs from 10th July until 9th August, the city will be alive with various cultural and traditional events and activities. Most malls will be open for late night family gatherings with shopping and dining after midnight. Ramadan (Iftar) tents are also a main attraction during the whole month, with each tent offering a different ambience and experience.

And don’t forget Eid Al-Fitr, which is a three day festival that marks the end of Ramadan and the breaking of the fast. Families exchange gifts, there are special public events arranged and more eating of delicious Arabic cuisine. The holy month of Ramadan is a truly fascinating time to visit Dubai.

TOP 5 ATTRACTIONS FOR KIDS


Dubai has plenty to offer kids. From giant snowballs to world class waterparks, there’s plenty of fun for all the family. Check out these five child-friendly favourites.

KidZania allows children to test out their answer to that popular question: "what do you want to be when you grow up?" From police officer to dentist, KidZania Dubai offers over 80 role-playing activities to meet the abilities and interests of every child between the ages of four to 16. KidZania has been praised by parents, educators and community leaders as a facility where kids can have fun, exert their independence and be safe.

The Dubai Aquarium is a must see. The main aquarium tank is the largest suspended aquarium in the world and houses thousands of aquatic animals with over 140 species including 400 sharks and rays.

Ski Dubai is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East and has five runs that vary in difficulty, height and gradient. The longest run is 400 metres and Ski Dubai hosts the world's first indoor black run. There’s also the chance to practice snowboarding tricks and enjoy tobogganing.

Wild Wadi Waterpark is located in front of the stunning Burj Al Arab hotel. Offering 30 rides and attractions for all the family, it’s themed around the tale of Juha, a character from Arabian folklore.

Aquaventure Waterpark covers 42 acres and is part of Atlantis, The Palm hotel. Here visitors can slide through shark filled lagoons, enjoy uphill rollercoasters, experience never ending rapid rivers and have up-close animal encounters.

Dubai Tourism Sponsors Travel Counsellors Conference

Dubai Tourism were headline sponsors of the Travel Counsellors Conference, which was held on 18 – 20 April at the Fota Island Resort in Cork. There was a delicious Arabian buffet and two Travel Counsellors, Kathy O’Sullivan and Niamh Quinlan were chosen by lucky dip to attend the special Travel Counsellors fam trip to Dubai, which will be jointly hosted by Emirates.

Ingrid Aagesen, Senior Manager at Dubai Tourism said, ‘Dubai had a phenomenal year from the Irish market in 2012, with Irish visitors increasing by 36%. This shows that our focused message of affordability, family and culture is getting across – and this will continue in 2013.’

MSC Cruise Ship Drops Anchor in Cork

The MSC Magnifica called at Dublin on May 28 and Cobh on the 29th, where over 100 agents were invited onboard and treated to lunch and a tour of the ship. Ingrid Aagesen, Eileen Penrose of Emirates and Rebecca Kelly of MSC Cruises presented to the agents highlighting the new series of seven 7-night cruises commencing from Dubai.

The first cruise will commence on 23 November and will call at Abu Dhabi, Khasab, Khor Al Fakkan and Muscat. For more information, please click this link.

Dubai Tourism to Share Headline Sponsorship of Northern Irish Travel Awards

It was announced at an event held in Belfast on the 22 May, that Dubai Tourism is to share Headline Sponsorship of the North Irish Travel Awards on Friday 18 October. Ingrid Aagesen commented, 'Dubai Tourism is delighted to continue its sponsorship of the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards in 2013. We are thrilled to be associated with these awards which recognise and reward the achievements of the NI the travel industry, and are very much looking forward to a fabulous evening again this year.

It is our aim to continue to support the Northern Irish Travel Trade in 2013 with training, fam trips and events.'

- Dubai’s multiple award-winning Sandance festival presented its season closing with an epic line up of headline artists and DJs including Florence & the Machine on the beach. For further Sandance festivities view the Dubai Calendar.

- Comedian Michael McIntyre performed at Dubai’s biggest indoor venue - the Sheikh Rashid Hall, Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre on 8th June.

- Dubai Tourism has projected that 20 million visitors will visit the emirate by 2020. It’s anticipated that the target will be reached by maintaining existing market share and exploring new markets such as China and Latin America.
