Dubai is gearing up for St Patrick’s day and 2013 is set to be one of the biggest celebrations yet.

The gathering will be extended to Dubai’s Irish Village, where for one week commencing on the 14th, they will be celebrating the spirit of Ireland. There is a fantastic array of live acts including Sir Bob Geldolf Live on 14th and Tommy Tiernan playing live at Dubai’s Tennis Arena on 21st. From 15th to 18th there will be the daily ‘Party All Day’, with free entry to the MapleJacks and DJ Marky Mark, pints of the black stuff and a buffet with traditional Irish specialities.

McGettigan’s , which has two pubs located in Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes and the Dubai World Trade Centre, have planned 4 days of fantastic festivities and live entertainment. It starts on Thursday 14th, with two free concerts from legendary Irish act, Jerry Fish and the Mudbg Club and An Emothional Fish.

On Saturday 16th, both venues will be screening the final 6 nations match with Ireland taking on Italy. For the big day itself, Paddy Casey and his full band will be performing all of his hits, Irish dancers will take to the floor and patrons will be able to enjoy the best Irish cusine at the D Bar & Grill. The Dubai Irish Society will also be holding a St Patrick’s Day ball on March 14 at the Atlantis, The Palm, with a champagne reception and Anita Williams will be singing live.

The fascinating Dubai Museum , housed in Al Fahidi Fort in the historic Bastakiya district, explains how Dubai developed from a pearl fishing town into the bustling cosmopolitan world city of today. Entry is 3 dirhams (€0.60c).

Take a charming Abra , a traditional wooden water taxi, across the bustling Dubai Creek for 1 dirham (€0.20c) and mingle with the locals on their daily commute.

The impressive Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum’s house which was built in 1896 home to the former ruler of Dubai, is now a museum. Entry is 2 dirhams (€0.40c).

Camels have a unique place in Dubai history and culture and are showcased in the Dubai Camel Museum, which has free entry.

Dubai has long stretches of public beaches . They are immaculate and usually quiet, especially on week days. Entry is free!

Dubai Tourism are Investors in People

Dubai Tourism’s UK office has had its ‘Investors in People’ status renewed. Ian Scott, director for Dubai Tourism said, ‘We have a strong team and value their hard work and contribution to making Dubai a successful destination. This is a real tribute to the work of all the staff.’

Sunway Holidays’ Oscars Extravaganza

Dubai Tourism to support and attend Sunway Holidays’ Oscars Extravaganza on Thursday 11th April in the Vanilla Nightclub, Donnybrook, Dublin.

Dubai Tourism to Sponsor Travel Counsellors Conference The Travel Counsellors Conference Ireland will take place on 18 – 20 April in Cork, with Dubai Tourism as headline sponsors. There will be over 130 delegates in attendance at the Fota Island Resort and they will hear the latest news, updates and developments from the company’s management team, guest speakers and suppliers.

The Big Travel Trade Event

Dubai Tourism is to share Headline Sponsorship with Etihad and Kerzner will be the main sponsors for the Big Travel Trade Event in Belfast and registration is now open. The extravaganza will be held on 11 and 12 June and is packed with exhibitors, helpful workshops and a whole lot more.
