With its year round sunshine and safe environment, Dubai has established itself as a top family holiday destination. Combining both of these factors is a trip to the fantastic Wild Wadi water park. Dubai Update spoke to Chris Perry, the General Manager to find out what's on offer.

What makes Wild Wadi different from other water parks?
Wild Wadi has 8 uphill waterslides (master blasters), which is the most of any waterpark in the world. It also has a series of 13 slides that are interconnected so guests don’t have to walk around the waterpark with their tube trying to find the next ride. Plus Tantrum Alley and Burj Surj are 2 family rides that are world’s firsts and the park is centrally located in Dubai and sits next to the famous Burj Al Arab hotel.

Is Wild Wadi just for kids?
Wild Wadi has something for everyone.  Kids can enjoy Juha’s Dhow and Lagoon, our interactive family playstructure.  Teenagers and thrill seekers will enjoy Jumeirah Sceirah, our 2 speed slides that feature the region’s first floor drop speed slides. Parents and grandparents will enjoy Juha’s Journey, our lazy river and Breaker’s Bay, our wave pool. Finally, for those sport enthusiasts, we have Wipeout and Riptide Flowriders, our simulated surfing rides.

Are there any deals to make a trip more cost effective for families?
Currently we have a promotion running with Ski Dubai where you can purchase 1 ticket that can be used at both venues and offers a sizable discount at each location.  Local newspapers often have coupons and there are also bundle meal deal bundles with a 40% saving when bought at the entrance gates.

Is there anything new planned?
We are always looking to innovate and we are in the process of planning our next 5 years.  We are not in a position to share our next attraction quite yet, but as soon as we are, we will let everyone in on the fun!

What’s your favourite ride at Wild Wadi?
It has to be the Jumeirah Sceirah.  This is our newest attraction and the most exciting part of the ride is the entrance.  No matter how many times you have ridden, there is always great anticipation as you step into the capsule door, it is locked, and the countdown of 3, 2, 1 before the floor that you are standing on drops away and you are free falling against the slide.  It takes approximately 8 seconds to travel 120m to the exit. Exhilarating every time!

There’s nothing like tea and scones to set the tone for a relaxing and refreshing afternoon. In Dubai there are plenty of options but here are our top five picks.

At.mosphere stands head and shoulders above the rest. Located in Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, it holds the Guinness World Record for the highest restaurant from ground level.

The Burj Al Arab doesn’t just offer one afternoon tea experience but a choice of four. There’s the High Tea with cocktails from 7pm and the Ultimate Afternoon Tea in Sahn Eddar restaurant with mosaic and marble flooring. Another option is an Asian-inspired offering and even a Sky Tea in the Sky Bar complete with Devonshire clotted cream.

The Ritz Carlton’s afternoon tea is served in the calm lobby lounge complete with wooden ceiling, Palladian windows and colonial sumptuousness. Your tea will feature finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a choice of over 20 types of tea.

Desert Palm hosts the Jewel Afternoon Tea daily and offers visitors the chance to take tea and sandwiches in the lounge and terrace overlooking a lush polo field. Desert Palm is a stunning polo estate with four championship polo fields, a riding school, stables and rare birds.

At the One&Only Royal Mirage tea is a relaxed and refined affair set in one of three different restaurants. You can choose from a range of teas accompanied by a array of closed finger sandwiches, scones with Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry jam.
