In September, 20 travel agents accepted the challenge to take part in Mission:Possible 2. The super sleuths were split into four teams and had to use all their powers of deduction to negotiate their way around Dubai, busting any misconceptions that they had along the way.

The mission briefing was given at At.mosphere in the world’s tallest building, although unlike Tom Cruise in the iconic movie scene, the agents were inside on the 122nd floor! The first clue was given and the teams were on their way to Dubai Mall, where visits to Sega Republic, KidZania and The Dubai Aquarium gave a flavour of just how much there is for kids to enjoy there.

The trail then lead the agents to the historic Bastikiya district to discover some of Dubai’s hidden cultural gems. After solving clues at the Orient Guest House and taking a unique abra wooden water taxi, the teams had to use their bartering skills in the atmospheric spice souk, with the Green team getting the best deal for some saffron!

There was no time to lose as the gleaming metro whisked the agents to the Mall of the Emirates for a refuelling at the delicious and inexpensive food court. The mission culminated at The Montgomerie Dubai, before everyone was transferred by limo to Atlantis, The Palm.

A wonderful time was had by all the agents and there are some excellent photos on our official Facebook page. A big thanks to Virgin Holidays, Alpha Tours, One&Only Royal Mirage and Atlantis, The Palm. Look out for further reports in the Travel Weekly supplement and short film due for release later this month. Mission accomplished!

We asked 6 agents to reflect on their Mission:Possible 2 experiences:

Susan Prince (MIDCOUNTIES CO-OP TRAVEL) 'I’m going back to celebrate my 40th birthday!'

Lynne Rose (STEWART TRAVEL), 'The most amazing experience ever! Thank you so much to all involved who made the trip so memorable'.

Julie Hyde (TRAVEL COUNSELLORS), 'DUBAI D-Definitely, U- Unbelievable B-Brilliant, A- Amazing I- Incredible'.

Kelly Howard (HOLT TRAVEL),
'I learnt so much and the group were amazing. I’m booking for my 30th Birthday'.

Joanne Kemp (TRAVEL COUNSELLORS), 'The best trip ever! Thanks to everybody that put it all together and for picking me to go!'

Caroline Young (BURGESS WORLD TRAVEL), 'We were treated like celebrities. Dubai is stunning, sparkling and sensational'.
‘Take Me Out To Dubai’ Trip
Dubai Update caught up with Gemma Alden of Co-operative Travel, she recently returned from a trip to Dubai that she won as part of our TTG 'Take Me Out To Dubai' campaign

‘I had never flown with Emirates before and everything from the customer service, food and drink, and in-flight entertainment was excellent.

The highlight was the Burj Khalifa . When we were up on the 124th floor you could see for miles and really appreciate how tall it is. You see it in photos all the time but when you see it for real it is amazing.

Jumeirah Zabeel Saray was pure luxury. The bathroom was huge! The hotel had everything, an infinity pool, stunning views, private beach and the service was fantastic.

I now feel more confident to recommend Dubai to customers, either as their main stay or as part of a twin centre holiday’.
